About Reiki / Reiki Treatments

What is Reiki? (Pronounced Ray-Key)
Reiki is a Japanese word that roughly translates to "universal life-force energy".   Life-force energy surrounds every living thing in the universe.  The existence of this "life force energy" has been verified by recent scientific experiments, and many medical doctors now consider the role it plays in the functioning of the immune system and the healing process. Reiki is not affiliated with any religion and does not require any particular beliefs to be effective.  People of all faiths are Reiki practitioners and recipients.

What is a Reiki treatment?
A Reiki treatment is a non-invasive, hands-on healing technique that involves the channeling of life force energy to aid in the release of blockages in the energetic nervous system in the body allowing the body’s own natural healing systems to then function more effectively.  The practitioner does not heal you; they simply open and balance your energy channels, allowing you to heal yourself.  The amount of energy transferred depends on the client’s ability to use it and willingness to receive it.  When no more energy can be used, the practitioner usually senses when this happens.Reiki is a technique that works on the same principle as acupuncture, shiatsu, reflexology and other Eastern methods that are now being recognized world-wide.

How long does a Reiki treatment session last?

Reiki treatments vary in length depending on the needs of the client and can be done within a few minutes or last as long as an hour.  Because of this...clients are asked to place a maximum amount of time allowed BEFORE the session starts.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

  • Clears energy blocks.
  • Improves the immune system and blood flow.
  • Speeds recovery time from illness, injuries, surgery and more.
  • Reduces pain, stress and fatigue.
  • Enhances relaxation and aids in better sleep.
  • Increases energy levels.
  • Assists with emotional distress and traumatic issues.
  • Enhances intuitive abilities.
  • ...And so much more!

Can pets also benefit from Reiki?
Yes.  Many animals respond very well to Reiki therapies.

What happens during a Reiki treatment session?

Will I feel (or experience) anything during my treatment with Christina?

In general a client can expect to be interviewed by their practitioner before the treatment in order to determine what areas may need to be concentrated on. This initial consultation may involve the practitioner using her hands to assess the energy field.  Any blockages will be explained to the client, and cleared away during the treatment. The client (fully clothed) lays down on a massage table or sits in a comfortable chair (whichever is preferred) while the Reiki Practitioner holds their hands on or above them (Christina Scalise uses a hands held above method), intuitively changing positions according to need. Energy is then transferred to the client through the hands of the practitioner in a sequence of standardized positions where the hands are placed. As the energy flows, the client may feel nothing OR experience one or more of the following...

  •  A warm sensation.
  • A pulsing, throbbing or tingling feeling.
  • A total sense of relaxation and tranquility.
  • See colors and/or visions, daydreams.
  • Experience certain emotions.

And, along with the experiences mentioned above, some clients have also experienced one or more of the following...

  • Floating sensation.
  • Pulling and pushing sensations.
  • Cold sensations.
  • Itching sensations.
  • Clearing of sinuses, eyes watering, ears popping.
  • Muscle spasms.
  • Stomach gurgling.
  • Spirit activity and/or assistance with the Reiki treatment.

It's important to remember that, as every person is unique, so is every Reiki treatment experience. And, with that being said, most clients usually do experience something (the most common is usually heat and/or tingling sensations). But, occasionally some feel nothing at all and that's okay too; either way, you still benefit from the treatment. And, some clients don't  feel anything until the following morning; Reiki sensations and experiences often continue happening for up to 24 hours or more after the Reiki treatment has been completed.

Will I feel better after my treatment?

Once again (as mentioned above) it is important to remember that every person is unique and so is every Reiki treatment experience... the benefits of a Reiki treatment are MANY!

And, along with those many benefits listed above... some of my clients have also claimed...

  • More energetic feeling afterwards.
  • Much more relaxed, sleeping better at night, less fatigued.
  • Lighter feeling / a weight has been lifted.
  • Loose and more flexible muscles (like they've just had a workout).
  • Clearer thinking, improved focus and longer attention span.
  • Improved vision.
  • Both instant and long lasting relief of the following...

  1. Vertigo and nausea.
  2. Clearing of sinuses (colds and allergies).
  3. Neuropathy.
  4. Cancer treatment symptoms (pain, nausea, vertigo, etc.)
  5. Symptoms of Crohn’s disease, COPD, overactive bladder, diabetes and more.

  7. Symptoms of menopause.
  8. Pain associated with....sciatica, bursitis, back, shoulders, elbow, knee, headaches, migraines, injuries, broken bones, recovery from surgery and childbirth/c-section and sooo much more!

Please note: the benefits of a Reiki treatment can (and most often) be felt right away or within the first 24 hours.

Reminder: don't forget to drink plenty of water after your Reiki treatment!  A Reiki treatment is a detoxification of your energetic system and drinking water can help enhance those benefits.
